The (Somewhat Less Than) Grand Opening

Finally, after several years of learning, coding, re-learning, re-coding, re-starting and procrastinating I am proud to present to you the fruits of my labour: this small entry on this single crappy web page.

Like most of the people that'll read this, you'll probably have no idea at all about how long it has taken me to get this far into the development of my own site. In short — years. The rest of you that actually did know I was in the process of building this place will probably be stunned and shocked by the fact I actually made it this far.

After building much of and then later scrapping a considerable amount of work that'd gone into CMS for other people, I decided to make one for myself. Unfortunately, soon after making this decision I became astoundingly lazy and it took quite a while to rekindle my interest. Spending ages working on something only to find it is no longer needed can do that to you. Even after getting back into the swing of things it was still very difficult to find time to actually build this place because not only had I found a new and very significant distraction, I'd also realized I'd forgotten quite a bit of what I knew. Having to learn about every little thing before making something is rather time consuming too.

Nevertheless I've finally managed to make it this far and I intend to continue much further. It could still be a while before you see much of anything of any significance added again, though. It wasn't long after finally completing the system for adding and editing these blog entries that I had — in my excitement and rush to get it finished — forgotten to add the functionality of being able to delete entries. There's also the issue of finishing off the CSS side of things to address too. (CSS and I tend not to get on very well.)

Anyway, enough of my babble for now. It's back to the grindstone with me and with any luck I'll have some vaguely interesting stuff here for you all to have a peek at. Hopefully with much more functionality (such as adding comments to blog entries etc.) too.
